A marine is an individual who works for the department of the United States army charged with the duty of the provision, from sea, of force projection.

How to become a marine in six simple steps

• First involves research. One should not go into the marines without an inkling of what duties the marine are involved in. There are numerous jobs, also known as Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), on offer in the marines. Laid back individuals may settle for administration and truck driver MOS jobs while the adrenaline driven may opt to serve on the infantry. Research is the only way individuals may decide on the jobs they are best suited for. In addition, one must have the spirit of determination.
• Check for eligibility by contacting a recruiter. The recruiter will provide all crucial information and also individuals with the required paperwork.

• Get into shape. One criteria of getting into the marines is fitness. Physical fitness tests are taken every six months. Regular excising will help ensure that boot camp proves less intimidating once accepted into the marines.
• Sit for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVB). This is the best way of establishing just what jobs one qualifies for. It is important to also understand that certain jobs require high test scores. This means the tests have to be studied for.
• Once eligibility is confirmed and one has passed the ASVB, it is time to attend the 13 week long boot camp. This is where one’s fitness level and determination are tested to the extreme.
• One only becomes a marine on the successful completion of boot camp. Graduating from boot camp is no mean feat which is why it should be celebrated with family and friends.
